Why?

• Street Soccer Friday is an avenue to allow young players the experience of playing against other children in a manner that will allow them to express themselves and not be overly concerned about results.

• S.S.F. is an avenue that will allow players to improve their technical abilities, further their enjoyment for the game, and improve their social skills.

• S.S.F. is an avenue that will truly give the game back to the children without adult influences.

Cutters 4v4 Street Soccer Friday Format

All matches will be 4v4 (preferably) or 3v3

Players will all be mixed together from the various age groups and teams.

Players arrive at a venue and will be mixed up by a 4v4 Friday site coordinator.

Mixed teams will be no larger than 5 players each. The purpose is to maximize playing time.

Players may be mixed into age categories and will attempt to keep within a reasonable age range. The goal will be to have players play within approximately 2 year age range, but there may be some players who play outside this range.

Players referee themselves (although there will be a field facilitator)

Matches will be 10 minutes in length.

Each S.S.F. team should play at least 4 matches with a 5 minute break after the second match.

Cutter Coaches may also implement a brief “clinic”. The “clinic” will be for the purposes of giving players ideas to practice at home/backyard.

Coordinators may re-shuffle all of the players after the second matches to make new teams.

The topic for this week will be advanced dribbling. The skills vary by age group, but will include fakes, turns, shielding, change of speed and change of direction.

Also this week, we will begin the Values through Sport pilot program for players. The topic this week is responsibility. We will encourage the players to be responsible for their own equipment (for example, remembering to bring their ball, shin guards and water bottle to and from practice). In addition, we will ask them how else they can be responsible at soccer and at home. If you would like more information on the Values through Sport project, please visit http://valuesthroughsport.com.

We are looking forward to a great practice on Monday night. Here are the practice plans:

U-8 More Dribbling
U-10 & U-12 Advanced Dribbling
U-14 Dribbling to Beat the Defender

Welcome to the spring 2013 Cutters Community Soccer season! We are excited to begin.

The first practice will include dribbling and getting to know your teammates, coaches and trainers. We will end practice with a scrimmage to get ready for Saturday’s first game.

Every player should wear shin guards and bring a soccer ball and water bottle to each practice. Please put a parent’s cell phone number on the soccer ball in case it is left at the field. Also, make sure everyone is dressed warmly for Monday. The temperature at Karst often feels much cooler than in town. Finally, always call the Karst Farm Park hotline, 812-349-2126, before driving to the fields.

All you need to do is mention Cutters when you order. Please note this is only for dine in or carry out, but the offer is good all day long. In case you haven’t seen the new Aver’s, it is located at 2905 East Covenater Drive and they have a great dining room area. With a full week we can definitely make this a great success!

Cutters will be hosting our 2nd Annual Golf Marathon on Monday, May 6th at the Bloomington Country Club. We are looking for 30-40 participants who will take part in a fundraising effort for the month preceding the event. Each participant will have an online fundraising page where family, friends, and coworkers can make contributions. The money raised will help support scholarships, strengthen our community outreach program, and fund other important club needs. The day of the event will involve different golf related games that should be fun and challenging for the participants.

Last year’s outing raised more than $10,000 for the club, but we are hopeful this year can be even better. Please sign up using the link below. Feel free to contact Michael Nosofsky at director@cutterssoccer.org if have any questions about the event.
